Summary Note |
In peaceful southern Sweden, Louise Akerblom, an estate agent, pillar of the Methodist church, wife and mother, disappears. There is no explanation. Inspector Kurt Wallander and his team are called in to investigate. Immediately, Wallander has a gut feeling that the victim will never be found alive, but he has no conception of how far he will have to go in search of the killer and the origin of the crime. In this, his most expansive novel, Henning Mankell shows himself both the master of tension and the creator of an original, vulnerable, idealistic and brilliant policeman in the figure of Kurt Wallander. |
