The "Wars of the Roses" cycle :The War(s) of the Roses" is a phrase used to describe the civil wars in England between the Lancastrian and Yorkist dynasties. Some of the events of these wars were dramatised by Shakespeare in the history plays Richard II; Henry IV, Part 1; Henry IV, Part 2; Henry V; Henry VI, Part 1; Henry VI, Part 2; Henry VI, Part 3; and Richard III. |

Summary Note |
A vibrant and internationally acclaimed production of King Richard II. The start of the Wars of The Roses. On the death of Edward III, England's legitimate heir was Richard II, the only surviving child of Edward's eldest son, the late Black Prince. As Richard was only 10 years old, his uncle John of Gaunt was regent; but Richard earned the antagonism of his cousin Henry Bolingbroke, which led to his being deposed and eventually brutally murdered. |
