Summary Note On the desolate coast of Denmark, Martina and Philippa, follow their late father's teachings of salvation through self denial, when the arrival of a mysterious, French refugee brings change to their life.
In a remote fishing village along the coast of Jutland, two very moral and devout sisters give employment to a destitute French woman. Years later, Babette wins a lottery and in gratitude, spends it on preparing a French meal for the sisters and their parishioners.
