History Metal hoppers for road building materials were built at Lyne Park by State Metal Quarries in 1917. Aveling and Porter 4 ton steam wagons were loaded at the site and in 1920 five such wagons were included in Council's plant. The Woollahra Council Annual Report for 1920 noted that both Benelong Crescent and Birriga Road had been 'tar-painted and top-dressed' during that year.
